Take a load off...

Arpeggio walked into the tavern; after a long, rather eventful day, he decided the best thing to do was to kick back, relax, take a load off his hooves, and enjoy a nice drink; perhaps something to eat as well if he could. He went over to a table, sitting back and enjoying resting his hooves; they were rather sore. He'd mostly walked around town; he hadn't been paying attention to where he'd been walking (he'd started composing again) and had smacked a hoof against a bench. That had hurt.

The pegasus looked around the tavern, looking for someone who'd take an order. He also looked to see who else was enjoying the tavern.

Life walked into the busy tavern and took the first open seat in front of him. He looked like he was tired and warn out.

"Finally time to relax..." He said to himself as he took off his white long lab jacket. He looked to himself to see another pony relaxing as Life was.

"hey, are you new here?" He said with a friendly but tired smile.

He looked over at the new Pegasus with a warm smile. "Yeah, I am. Was it that obvious?" He chuckled, gesturing to a free seat at his table. "You're welcome to join me, I don't bite. My name's Arpeggio; I moved into town a few days ago. What's your name?"

"Haha we all kinda have a skill for telling new people" He said happily. "Sure! I dont mind" getting off the chair, staring to walk to the gestured table.

"My name is Life, I work at the hospital".

He extended a hoof towards Life, chuckling. "Apparently so. It's a pleasure to meet you, Life. Are you a doctor?" *He glanced around the Tavern again* "...Also, who exactly do I have to talk to to get a drink or something to eat ordered?"

Life shook his hoof. "Yeah I am! I guess you guessed form the coat..." He said with a slight chuckle. "Oh that is a good question... Usually I'm too tired to notice. I just go up to the counter and put down bits and ask for what I want and BAM! There it is..."

Life walked up to the counter again doing exactly what he said. "I would like a cup of tea please". Then a pony came out took the bits and gave Life a cup of tea.

He walked back tot eh table, "there!"

"Works for me." He went up to the counter, setting bits onto the table. "A glass of red wine... a Cabernet, please. Something to eat as well... just a salad, please?" A pony came out, taking the bits; he returned a little while later with the wine and salad. Arpeggio took them back to the table. "There we go. Huh, fancy that." He took a slow sip of his wine. "This is good..."

"haha, so tell me, what brings you here to Ponyville?" Life said while blowing away the steam from his tea. "Oh just to say, your not the only new pony here, I'm new too! Just started working last week" He said with a large grin.

"Well, a few things. I wanted to take a break from the craziness of touring; I was part of the Manehattan Chamber Choir. I want to do more composing, so I came here for inspiration and a change in pace." A rumble from his stomach reminded him of what else he came here for and he began eating his salad. After swallowing a mouthful, he said "What about you, Life?"

"oohh really? Well you came to the right place. You have NO idea how much 'music' goes around here..." He said with a a slight grimace. "I came here to help people. I now it sound cheesy but it was just childhood scarring... Long story short, I hate seeing people sick and hurt." Life sipped at his tea then smiled and it's tastiness.

"Is that so? That's quite noble of you." He noticed the grimace. "Do you not like music much, Life?" He took another sip of his wine, starting to relax a little more as the alcohol took effect.

"hahah thanks. Well, its not that I 'don't like music'. Its that nearly.... EVERY DAY, some pink pony goes around singing some weird song..... EVERYDAY!" Life seemed quite angry but quickly calmed down as he took another sip. "So, any family?"

"...I think I heard that pony once... she seems to have issues with key and meter. Anyway, yeah; parents in Cloudsdale. No siblings... a few extended family members but none that live nearby." He finished up his salad, still taking sips of his wine. "You?"

"Im an only child. MY mother died during birth. My dad, hah I don't even know..." He said completely casual about it while drinking his tea. "Thats pretty much it about family"

Well that completely caught him off-guard. What does one even say after something like that. "Um... my condolences?" Wow, that was awkward. "...Um... so where do you live in town? I don't live too far from here, actually." He took another larger sip of his wine, the alcohol relaxing the pegasus even more.

"well, its okay really.." He took out a vile of something and slipped it into his tea and took a big gulp of it this time. "I just wanted to get that out of the way. I don't even have a house yet... Im so busy at the hospital practically live there. That is where I spend most of my life. Ironic right?" He chuckled a little.

He chuckled with him, now a little more open; he got a refill of his glass of wine, taking another sip. "Quite ironic... then again, do you have that much stuff you'd need a home for?"

Flora nudged open the doors to the Tavern with her lowered nose, flattening her ears and pawing quietly at the worn wooden flooring once before stepping into the slightly darkened establishment. Her eyes adjusted to the low light and she righted herself before plodding to the counter and quickly grumbling something to the pony watching from behind the bar. After receiving a short glass filled with a few cube of ice floating in something strong-smelling, she sat on a padded stool and idly traced circles on the bar while listening to two stallions conversing a few feet away.
After sipping at her drink a bit, she turns and leans against the bar facing them, crossing her hooves and sighing quietly.
"Hiya." She chirps, smiling and shifting her weight to lean towards them a bit.

"Nah I don't have things. I was just a traveler helping others is all." Life looks over at yet another new pony walking into the tavern. He leans over to Arpeggio and says, "hey, do you know her? I not think I have seen her before..." He quickly realizes that she had just said something. "oh hey there!" He said with an awkward wave.

"Can't say I do, Life; I'm new here too, remember?" He chuckled slightly and waved to Flora. "Hello." He took another sip of his wine, smiling.

He leaned over to arpy again. "she's quite cute wouldn't ya say?" he turned to the new comer and said "hey why dont you come join us?" life then took out the same vile as before and put it in his tea. He took a gulp again and shuddered slighty.

"Yeah, she is..." His body felt all warm thanks to the wine, but he didn't care.

Flora smiled crookedly in response to their greetings, nodding her head, then hopped off the stool to trot a few steps towards them.
"Thanks, don't mind if I do!"
She sat down with her drink and blinked at them, swishing her tail.
"Whatchya got there?" She chirped, nudging the pale pony closest to her and gesturing towards his vile. She took a swig of her glass, swallowing hard and licking her lips to savor the bitterly sweet aftertaste. It burned down her throat and spread warmth through her stomach.

"hhmm? oh this... I have a problem which makes my phobic of noises and this medicine some pony made for me help me calm down". Life took out the vile to show a think green liquid swishing inside. "So stranger, I've been dying to know. What's your name?" Life put on a smile.

Arpeggio took another drink from his wine, listening to the newcomer.
