OC's first day in Kindergarten!

(This is going to be an experiment. A slow thread, so anypony can join. Just one little thing.

One post, one daycycle.

You don't have to wait on anypony in particular, though IC this might be preferable, as posters may not be available every day, but you cannot post more than once per day.

We'll see how it works.)

It was a sunny day.

It was the perfect day for the first day at kindergarten.

But Intel was not happy.

Intel didn't want to go to kindergarten.

"Why do I have to go to kindergarten, mummy?" he said.

"So you can meet new friends," mother said.

So he went to kindergarten. But he was still not happy.

There were lots of things in the kindergarten.

There were books. There were toys. There were paintbrushes and pencils and paper. But most of all, there were ponies.

Intel was scared. He didn't want to talk to the scary ponies.

He walked to where the books were. Quietly, silently, so nopony saw him. Nopony heard him. Or so he thought.

A well groomed young Indigo Surprise sat in the corner away from everyfoal else. He was quietly looking at a picture book until he saw the new colt come walking in and buried his head back in the book, lifting the cover up to hide his face.

Iccy Sat at his desk, Shyly reading a book. He seemed to not notice when other students arrived, although his eyes would dart about the room every so often.

"But Maaaaawmy!" Ticky cried to her mother. She clung to her leg, not wanting to let go. Her mother walked her to school for her first day. "There are stwange ponies in dere." She tugged at her mothers mane.

Her mother smiled and gave Shala a gentle nuzzle. "Don't worry my little clock. Ill be right here for you when school is over. I'll make you your favorite food for dinner when you get back."

Ticky went wide eyed and hopped up and down with hooves shaking at the mention of it. "SPINACH RAVIOLI!" She beamed.

Ticky's mother blushed and giggled. "Yes dear. Now go on. It will be like any other day. Make friends and get smart."

She nodded vigorously and quickly trotted off to the door before turning her head to yell. "I love you Mawmy!"

"I love you too sweetie!"

Ticky lost her enthusiasm real quick once she was inside the classroom. She almost stopped in place and about choked. She reminded herself about her mother and dinner before putting on a smile and taking a seat right at the front. She would tell her mommy all about the new things she learned in class today. All the other ponies looked a bit worried. Maybe they didn't get to have any nice dinners.

Oh dear.

The book place had been taken over by ponies! Intel would've cursed if he knew how. He did, however, shake his hoof at the sky in true mad scientist pony rage.

It won this time. This time.

He sulkily plonked down on a seat. 'Plonk!' Making sure he was away from any icky fillies and their germs. Germs existed, his parents told him so, and after his little sister was born he became sick for a long while.

Therefore, fillies were out to infect everypony. One day, there would be a cure. Intel was an optimist. For now, he would- oh, building blocks!

He had chosen his seat well indeed. Right next to him were sets of brightly coloured blocks, just waiting to be placed on top of one another. They were his. All his.

He tried an evil laugh, but just ended up coughing weirdly. He needed to work on that.

He looked up from his book, seeing that the other colt was gone now and breathed a sigh of relief. His mama told him that he should try to make friends as she pried him from her back leg. He was way too shy to meet other ponies by himself, even with his mama around he always hid behind her an now that barrier was gone.

He was alone, but he didn't want to be alone, but he was too shy to meet any of the other little ponies. Loneliness eventually won out and he got up to his hooves and cautiously walked out of the building area. That's when he spied the blocks. He loved building blocks, but not near as much as train tracks though. Then he noticed the colt from before near them. He stood there looking back and forth between him and the blocks.

Icarus gently put the book down, and spied some Crayons and paper. Looking around to make sure no one was looking at him, He gently tried bringing the Colorful art tools down to him, Then doodling a scene. Simple drawing of his house, With his Maw and Paw.

As the front door opened, Sprinkle Fuzz cried to his mother "Moooommm! I dont wanna go! All the other ponies are lame!", his mother replied "Sprinkle, keep your yap shut and go!". Sprinkle Fuzz's eyes started tearing up as he looked up at his mom. His mother used her head and pushed him in. "Bye." she mumbled as she turned around and walked out the door. "Your always so mean to me mommy! Its not fair!" he complained. His mother then turned around and gave him a dirty look. Of course, that made him cry even more and walk away. His mom ignored the fact that he was crying and closed the door. Sprinkle then went in to the corner with the least amount of ponies just to sit down and cry.

Ticky was struggling to teach herself how to read a book. She was happy that her mother had tried to give her a head start on it. She was happy that she could read books bigger than most others. This one had some big words in it.

It was becoming hard to read though with the cries of another pony going on. Why would any pony want to cry here? She marked her page and put the book down to see what was wrong. Going to the pony, she peered curiously at him.

"Are you okay?" She said simply.

"Now Night bug, you be good. You need to remember you are bigger then the other fillies and colts."

"We can't take time off work every time you hurt another pony on accident. A pony your age should know better."

"We taught you better."

It was the lecture that Night Flare had gotten every morning. Right after the one about why Night needed to wear clothing every day. It was followed by the one on the way to school about gender roles, and how her mothers would not let something so silly dictate a child's future.

Night's mornings were nothing but lectures.

Looking for today's target.

Eyes falling on a little grey colt Night advanced behind him. When Night was right next to him S/He sucked in a deep breath of air and asked in a very loud voice "WHAT JA DRAWIN?" This was punctuated by her slapping her hooves up on the table near his work of art.

It was time.

Eyes glinting in anticipation, Intel levitated a bunch of building blocks and started placing them on top of each other to form a scaled down version of what would be his secret lab. He did not have nearly have enough resources for a full secret lab. Such a project would need books which was...

Intel looked at the now vacant bookspace, then at the pony who had vacated it.

Standing in front of his half finished secret lab, Intel stared at Indigo.

The confrontation began.

Icarus Jumped in his seat. "EEEEP!" Taking a breath to calm himself down, He looked at his drawing shyly. "J-Just m-my house... a-and m-mama a-and p-papa..."

A curious posse occupied the crafts table.

This club of bourgeois foals had already established some exclusive social diaspora and now dominated the corner, enthroned amongst which was a filly that represented the very pinnacle of elitism. Perched upon her little bench with her legs folded, she idly fondled a velvet curl that had escaped her intricate bun. Fresh grapes and neatly sliced sandwiches seemed constantly within her grasp. Now and then she would propagate some conjecture, tastefully inconclusive, with which her giggling contemporaries would invariably and unthinkingly concur. Her speech was unnaturally refined and saturated with aristocratic bombast as though she were a mere extension of her parents' will.

And so, the group was assembled on the premise of collective kindergarten hatred - and solely that. Whether or not the ponies actually listened to her grotesque rhetoric, or even knew eachothers names for that matter, remained unknown. In truth, it was largely irrelevant. It would be perfectly reasonable if they actually detested one another, and the filly was quite aware of this. She arrested their attention simply as to have nameless heads off of which she could bounce her endless strings of superficial words.

Vicky thus enjoyed subjecting other defenseless ponies to ridicule. It was, in fact, all that was known to the filly; for her mother was herself of prodigal means and her father had only ever preached enterprise. Neither of these figures had bestowed unto her very much morality.

She was, in a word, the snob.

"Look 'eir, me'darlings, ta' he whom you'd think'd be one've us," Vicky murmured, gesturing with a dainty hoof to the groomed colt with the snowy pelt. "-and yet he eyes those silly boxes. Nay, doth roses by any other name smell just as sweet: for he likens himself to that laborer." She indicated Intel's block fortress. Her associates applauded her words unanimously despite comprehending little of what she had just said.

"Ta' that dreadful colt who moans like a whale," she persisted, "n' the filly who consoles him with clownish words." She conducted a disdainful motion that she did not at all understand but which she had once seen executed by her parents. Her companions conveyed their approval.

"Then ta' that loud one trampling the table - ehm - I b'lieve the word fer' that is puh-ph-" (She looked down at her tongue momentarily, wrestling with syllables) "-peh-coo-lee-yur... Ha! I shall call her Scout."

"...and fancy the quiet one, eh? Can ya' ever look 'pon a mime and say 'fersure that he's a handsome 'un?"

Indigo looked back, not a drop of hostility existed in his small frame, though his stutter sounded out like machinegun fire, not out of shyness but out of a speech impediment. "C-c-c-can I play w-w-w-with you?"

Ticky looked about. Some crazy pony had decided to claim being invisible and claim a desk for himself.

A desk that belonged to her.

Suddenly her concern with the crying pony was not so important anymore. Like a wonderbolt, she suddenly dashed to the desk and dove onto it to reach for her prize. With her magic, the book floated up to her unharmed, but her momentum carried her on and right into the pony with a spinner hat.

"Can you play with me?"

Intel looked the well groomed pony up and down like a drill sergeant inspecting a soldier.

"Well, it's not going to be easy. It's going to be dangerous. And hard. And sticky, sometimes. There's going to be spinach for dinner and no dessert. There's going to be many dangerous dangers, like monsters and uh, monsters and..."

Intel paused, making a scrunched up shape with his mouth in thought.

"Oh! The most dangerous and scary and dangerous of all..."

Intel whispered in Indigo's ear. "...gross fillies."

He took a step back and nodded, as if stating a universal truth. When the scuffle broke out in the classroom, Intel jumped behind his part unfinished lab, part finished wall.

"Uh...so, are you going to play with me?" Intel asked sheepishly over his wall of blocks.

Night's attention drifted to a new target. A very well groomed target. Storming up to the filly Night tried to look as intimidating as any-pony could in leggings and white blouse. Nights ears flat against her head Night was ready for a fight, the lecture about violence had left her mind.

"You can't call me Scout! I got a name!!" Night said to the filly. Doing what any other dignified little pony would do Night Flare pouted.

Turning just in time she saw the other filly crash into the pony that just came in and started screaming nonsense.

Iccy Shrank into his chair, Somewhat nervous from the scuffle, but glad no-one's paying attention to him anymore. He started another doodle, this time of The classroom. Not that it was any good, but as a youngin', He didn't care.

Indigo leaped over a desk and peered over at the ensuing scuffle. "Uh... y-y-y-yeah.."

Sprinkle Fuzz was just getting ready to talk to Ticky, when she ran over and knocked another pony down. Just then, he noticed somepony blabbering about him. Though he couldnt really understand what she was saying, he knew what the word moan meant, so he knew she was making fun of him. Sprinkle Fuzz stopped crying, flew up on a desk behind Victoria, making sure she wouldnt see him. He turned around, and kicked her as hard as he could with his hind legs. "You big meanie! Stop being mean to everyone!" he yelled at her after he gave her a good kick.

The filly towered over her impressively, casting a shade that prompted her clique to cower behind the table.

"Y-You've got it wrong, sweetheart," Vicky stammered. It would be years before her composure was truly tame. She released the lock in her mane and elevated her chin to meet Night's eyes. In due time, she regained her confidence and proceeded with sarcastic gusto. "Ys'indeed, 'cause you strike me as a Scout! Datty' did once read her tale to me... he calls't 'a classic'." She paused grandly before adding emphatically, "N' I do mean this with respect. She's simply adorable! And a foal with a simple charm. And you..." she trailed off, signaling the flinching ponies to snicker, albeit rather timidly.

She had been about to recline when a faceless hoof uprooted her and sent her hurtling into Night's belly. Her outstretched wings tangled with that of her counterpart and she dragged both of them to the floor. Some foal was denouncing her from behind her protruding posterior. In an instinctive motion to incite pity and regain her status, she began sobbing spasmodically.

"Mean is he who hurts a filly!" she choked.

Ticky recoiled at the insult. How dare he? She didn't know what it meant but it sounded real mean. She frowned, feeling like she might be on the edge of tears.

No! I can't give in. Mawmy would not be happy with her Tickyclock.

Instead, she endured and simply turned away and walked. She could read easily enough in some other corner and bury her head in a book away from the other noisy ones. The two playing with blocks looked docile enough. She took a seat not too far from them and put her head into her book.

(We need a teacher or something, guys.)
