Lightning's Second Visit

((I'm trying to be more active again. I'm still dealing with midterms, but the last one is Monday.))

Lightning sat in the waiting room, smiling to herself and fidgeting slightly. She was visiting Dr. Mind again, for the second time, but not out of necessity. But more for... The insight the pony had. She was a genius, and one of the few ponies Lightning felt she could talk openly about her condition to. Besides Curtain and Percy, of course.

She fiddled with her hair, grown a bit longer since living in Canterlot. No longer having to be in prime flying condition for Training School, she could change her look now. And Curtain had mused that her longer hair would look more appropriate in Canterlot.

Clear heard the little jingle that meant her front door had been opened. She shut her book, picking up her plate of sugar cookies and trotting out of her office to see who had come to pay her a visit.

"Ah, Lightning!" she said happily when she spotted the Pegasus. "Welcome back! I'm thinking we have a lot on which to catch up, so we can sit wherever and get to talking!"

Clear was happy to see her patient again. She loved it when ponies came back, and when they did, it meant, nine times out of ten, that it was a positive symbol. Lightning was smiling, she had an empty office, and the sun was shining. What could go wrong?

Lightning smiled lightly as she fluttered to her feet, glancing at Dr. Mind. "Oh, but we do!" She said, trotting into the Doctor's office purely out of remembrance. Clear Mind like to meet with her patients in there, right?

She sat on the couch, tucking her wings in and leaning back. She was much different than the last time she had been here. She was obviously more relaxed. And happy. "I mean, gosh, there's been so much that's happened. Do you wanna start from the beginning, or jump around?"

Clear smiled, shutting the door behind her and turning the sign that said "occupied."

"Beginning is better, I think. I can follow it a little better if you go this way." She opened up her notepad. "This is good news, I think?"

She jotted down the date and client before setting the pad aside and taking a long drag of her coffee. Clear had woken up to the sound of her sister retching in the bathroom, and she had dropped off the mare at the doctor's office to make sure it wasn't anything serious. That was around four AM, and she was exhausted, though she didn't show it.

Lightning smiled, grabbing a cookie before settling back. "Well, the Trainers graduated me from the Academy finally. Set me free from Cloudsdale and all that. They were going to let me stay at the Academy though, until I got enough bits to pay for my own apartment. Which was rather nice of them. I mean, I don't exactly have any family I coulda gone to..." She laughed weakly. It was kind of depressing to think about. Candle had once asked about her family. And Lightning just didn't know.

"So I began searching for a job. I figured out I'm a pretty darn fast delivery pony. And I can focus a little bit more than some other ones I've heard of. I'm also not afraid to fly in a storm, which lends itself well to our motto." She smiled then. "So I began saving up my bits, day by day...."

Clear's eyes widened with concern for the mare, but she was happy to know that things had otherwise been moving along. It seemed that a diagnosis was all that was needed to send Lightning along on her way.

"Well, I can certainly help you along with the apartment process," she said, trying to be helpful. "Are there any places you like in particular? I have a few friends who are more than willing to find affordable apartments, and even lower their prices."
