Magic Notes grew up in a middle class neighborhood filled with mostly unicorns. He took advantage of him being a Earth Pony, genetically stronger than the unicorns that lived there.
His father, having his special talent in magic, disapproved of what is son's race was. This caused Magic Notes to learn magic tricks, card illusions and mind tricks. Eventually he left his house and became a magician thus earning his Cutie Mark.

3. It is pouring rain outside. Your OC spots the light of a tavern up ahead. The tavern is filled with ponies that your OC doesn't know. Given your OC’s personality, compose a brief narrative in which your OC identifies and addresses the situation.
Magic Notes quickly walked down the street. He normally tollerated rain, but having been caught in it was terrible.
"This night's gonna be bad." He thought out-loud. Noticing a tavern light up ahead he galloped to it.
Opening the door he studied his surroundings. It was filled with friendly ponies. Being sure he wiped his hooves on the mat, he sat at a table. A lime green waitress approached.
"Can I get you anything?" She asked.
"Do you mind if I do a magic trick on you?" Magic Notes asked.
"Okay what's your magic trick?" She asked.
He fanned out a deck of cards. She knew that she had to pick one. The card she picked was a six of hearts. She put in back in the deck. He then split the deck in twelve piles. Taking away two at a time.
"You know a magician never gives away his secrets," He said "but I may make an exception for somepony as pretty as you." as he lifted the top card of the last pile showing a six of hearts. The waitress giggled.Maybe this night won't be so bad
. He thought.
