Just Too Busy

Life sipped his steaming tea with a grin. He was way too worked up about tomorrow's surgery at the hospital. He needed to get his mind of thing for the moment. He had never done something like this.

"uuuggghhh...." He said frowning and rubbing his forehead with his long elegant wing. "How will I pull it off?" All he wanted was to talk to somepony, some pony to be there if something went wrong...

Tacha walked into the busy tea shop. It was completly full and not a single table was unoccupied. She concidered leaving. it wouldnt be that hard. just walk out the door and come back some other time, but she had heard that they had the best teas here and had so desperatly wanted to try some. She looked around for the best option and spyied a very troubled looking grey pegasus. she slowly walked with her head down over to him. Without ever looking up at him, she stopped at his table. "uhh...may...i..you know uhh sit here..with you..just for a bit ill drink my tea real fast so you wont have to deal with me long." Her nerves were racing as she waited for his response, and concidered the best course of retreat incase of rejection.

Life's wing continued to rub his forehead until he heard a voice speak to him. Slowly he lowered his wing so just his eyes and above were visible. With wide eyes he put his disproportioned wing back to his side. "Hhhmm? Oh no! Please take a seat!" He couldn't help but smile with enthusiasm. "I really don't mind..." Life looked up to the ceiling, thanking Celestia for this fantastic miracle. He took the cup with his hoof and took a soft sip, settling it back down slowly, cushioning the cup with his wing to not make a single noise. "I'm Life. You might be...?"

Smiling to herself Tacha quietly slid into her chair and stared into her tea. She sat in silence for a few moments still unsure of this curious new pony. Carfully she peeked through her mane, which as always hung down covering her face when she felt especially shy. "I'm Tacha." She went back to staring at her tea unsure whether to just down the whole thing now and leave or to stay and try to make friends with life.

He nodded intently, showing interest as best he could. "It's a beautiful name!" Smiling, he tilted his head a little. "I don't think I've seen you before. Are you from around here?" His brow knit up in questioning, wanting to know more.

Feeling more relaxed by lifes intrest in her and really starting to become more intersted in him, Tacha slowly sipped her tea. "yea i just moved here. First time away from home." She smiled at her accomplishment. "im kinda on a quest to earn my cutie mark. you know a bit old to be a blank flank." the last part was layered with some sarcaism but mostly out of fear that he might pick on her for it. She had never really been picked on about it before but she deffinatly didnt want it to start now. feeling a little unnerved she switched the subject to Life. "Sooo what about you?"

Listening in closely, Life smiled at her new arrival. "Well, I've been here for quite a while now, but I'm not from Ponyville. I'm from this town in the middle of nowhere and came here when I was younger. I wanted to help people unlike how I was treated so I became the head doctor at the hospital". After he looked over curiously at her flank seeing that it was blank. "Huh, interesting..."

Tacha shyly smiled down at her blank flank "yea..." She really wanted her mark but she could wait mostly she just wanted other ponies to hang with her, she never really had any friends her own age and wasnt really good at communicating with ponies older than maybe seven. But that could change she looked back up at life still smiling. "that must be really exciting being a head dr and all, and you get to meet all kinds of new ponies, i could never do it, too shy. it must be nice being able to help others and talk with them without fear of failure or rejection."

"Well it's harder than you'd think. Most ponies would rather not be treated, not sure why though. But being a doctor has it's major downsides. I'm busy nearly 100 percent of the time, the government keeps offering jobs, others just start to hate me after a while... Oh well!" He smiled, looking down at his cup solemnly.

Tacha smiled, silently admiring life. "All those hardships and you still go everyday? have you ever concidered anything else, something where ponies will be more greatful to you?" Tacha was remembering all the things she had tried, in attrmpts to earn her mark and none of them seemed to do anything for her. She couldnt imagine what life would go through, all those ungrateful ponies, when he was only trying to help.
